We live in an age of information overload. Every day, a new tutorial is uploaded to YouTube, yet you still feel lost. Everyone seems to be searching for quick tips and fast fixes to improve their guitar playing.
The tradition of proper, old-fashioned private guitar instruction with a mentor who truly nurtures and cares for his students is slowly fading as more people turn to self-learning approaches via the Internet. While this might appear to be an intelligent and cost-effective way to learn guitar, it is, in reality, the exact opposite.
With this in mind, I established the SJ Guitar Academy to help you succeed in your guitar journey. You can now take private personalised guitar lessons with me, during which I will hone my approach to work with your unique personality and style of playing for you to become the guitarist you deserve to be!
I was born in Pretoria, South Africa, and had the immense privilege of studying with the late legendary jazz guitar instructor Johnny Fourie, among other esteemed mentors. Over the past two decades, I have honed the art of teaching adults to play the guitar.
In addition to teaching hundreds of adult students, I have co-founded the London Guitar Institute, the Institut de Musique de Paris, Das Dolce Musik Institut, and S&C Music in Dubai.
I have a deep understanding of adult music education and am passionate about teaching. I will mentor you to become the very best that you can be and help you reach beyond what you thought would be possible! (over a period of time!)
